The Crown Lengthening Procedure

This process can be helpful for patients experiencing a variety of dental problems.

Before the surgical procedure, your periodontist will usually schedule a teeth cleaning and place dental crowns on any teeth that require it. Surgery is completed under local anesthesia and the time of completion depends on how many teeth will be involved. Once the desired gum area has been removed, along with any bone structure, the periodontist will stitch together incisions, and if needed, place a bandage over the affected areas. After the procedure, you may be prescribed pain medication and a mouth rinse to keep the area clean and sterile.
