Happy Earth Day from Bellaire Periodontics!!

Dr. Warren and team at Bellaire Periodontics believe in taking care of your oral health and the environment.

In honor of Earth Day, we would love to share a few recycling tips with you:

Always recycle your water bottles, cans, paper, etc., but don’t forget to recycle your dental care containers.

Tooth brush earth day

Let’s go green with oral care!

Oral Care Items you can recycle include:

Toothpaste: Toothpaste must be emptied out before you recycle your toothpaste tubes! Squeeze out the toothpaste from the tube, put the cap back on and place the empty tube in the recycling bin.

Toothbrush: Toothbrushes cannot be recycled with general recyclables.

You can purchase toothbrushes already made of recycled materials. Buying products made from recycled materials is an important part of the recycling cycle.

If you have a normal toothbrush that you would like to recycle, companies such as Colgate and Tom’s of Maine take toothbrushes in the mail.

Colgate and Tom’s of Maine have a partnership with TerraCycle, a company which recycles nearly everything.

Cardboard packagingYour floss and toothbrushes usually have a cardboard packaging. Instead of throwing the container away, you can easily recycle the cardboard boxes right from your home.

MouthwashYou can recycle the empty mouthwash bottles right from home.

Floss: Dental floss is not recyclable because it is made from mixed materials, making it impossible to undergo normal recycling procedures.

When the floss container is empty, you can recycle it!
